The second edition of SHCONF took place in Berlin, Germany, from 25 to 27 September 2020. This event built on the momentum of the first event, uniting scholars and practitioners from around the world to address contemporary issues in social sciences and humanities. Issues included the neurobiology of criminal responsibility and corporate mindfulness, justice interventions in sexual-violence cases, the intersection of religion, family rights, and child marriage, and legal certainty in land transaction case studies, and more.
The conference included the promise of a multidisciplinary cross-pollination: philosophers, legal scholars, psychologists, sociologists, criminologists, educators, and others came together virtually to exchange research, critique existing paradigms, and propose new frameworks.
The host city of Berlin was an appropriate place for this dialogue, a city grounded in history, culture and transformation, echoing the ambition of the conference to engage with legacies of the past and offer inquiries pointing towards the future. Countries represented included Germany, Iran, and Indonesia, and more.
